On May 25, 2024, AFJN, in collaboration with Ikwo Noyo Youth Consultative Forum (IYCF), organized a community sensitization and awareness event at Community Primary School Ekpelu in Ikwo LGA, Ebonyi State, attended by 231 participants (91 males and 140 females).
Led by Peter Ewah, the campaign aimed to raise awareness about child early and forced marriage and domestic servitude. The team also visited HRH Ezeogo Albert Ofoke, who pledged his support, urged community members to report such cases, and warned against giving minors below 18 years for marriage or house help.
This initiative increased visibility, mobilized community support, engaged youth in advocacy, and influenced policy discussions for better enforcement of child protection laws.
The next activity will be held at Ndiagu Amagu Community. Together, we can end Child early and forced Marriage and Domestic servitude in Ikwo and Ebonyi state at large.
